Alumni Masterclass
Joining us on October 19th, Professor Inés Alegre will lead an interactive leadership session on Leadership and Decision Making.
Business decision-making is usually not a solo process. Many critical decisions are made within boards, committees and management teams. Join us for this engaging masterclass where we will reflect on the dynamics of group decision-making, the pros and cons of different decision-making techniques and the importance of team composition.
This masterclass will cover several aspects of group decision- making processes and dynamics, starting with a case study involving classical choices facing a large organisation as they address a strategic dilemma. The day will also include a simulation exercise where participants will be grouped and asked to make a list of priorities when faced with a life or death situation and will round off with a participative discussion on decision making in crisis situations.
Professor Alegre will be joined by Paddy McLaughlin, an experienced sailor and lifeboat volunteer who is on the board of trustees of the RNLI, operating a 24-hour search & rescue service from more than 230 lifeboat stations around Ireland and the UK. He will be sharing some of his direct experience of engaging in hazardous missions and saving lives at sea and will be illustrating how lifeboat crews are comprised of ordinary people doing extraordinary things.
